it's good / for staring @ stars /

these are the hands of a tired woman

resist the words / resist the nite

finally / the house sleeps

washer & dryer never rest

& the walls shake / alway / i am / shaking

to nite / final lee / summer / hot nite / fan blows
air over grubby bodies / lost in sleep
doors & windows wide open / pull in the mountain air
how does it cool like that / & the sky is lost / again

& over my head / planes fly infinite lee high / flash green / red
dot / filled with bodies /

the red eye you say

& those bodies / bump & sway / lost in high back seats
dreams /un ease of fly ing / & they don't even know i'm down
here / watch ing / those lites fly across / / & sudden lee
the sky cuts / fall ing / al ways fall ing / & did i / you know /
wish / did you wish / & al ways / i wonder / an omen / sign of
some sort / & the big dipper moves a closer to sun rise position

it fades over elephant mountain / with the dawn / with my early
morning cigarette / / & i wish to be the other kind of morning person
rest ed / start ing the day / in stead of end ing the nite

but who cares / it is summer again / & i wonder about high summer
& how it comes 5 weeks after solstice / & june is so far away again
yet it is now / air rises warm / heated by asphalt / cement / white of
the sun /this is when / lawn yellows /hard growth of / autumn is coming

august comes & air stills / quiet against high blue sky / perfect day

yes / we waited long for summer

miracle of / this side of the sun
high in the west sky /

& so for a moment / i for get who i am /
