biting nails - better to write nothing

so

the wind blows coarse
cold / icy snowflakes fly sideways

ah winter / january is more than brisk
it's cruel with temperature

certain lee the snow sparkles / diamonds
dead lee riches / for this i am cold

winter presses down / dormant the earth
is dormant / & there is nothing i can do about it

wait / wait for the season to turn / soon spring will be here
again / soon the smell of earth will rise in to the air
fill the nose with anxious thoughts / wait for mild days
& sun light to warm the air

january sun shine makes the sky blue
lays out a cover of ice /

face red / skin dry / fingers white
numb

it's enough to harden your guts

& then there is the wave / / gone now

a beautiful blue day / & yet on the horizon
a dark blue band / / what what could it be

run run run / / water steals children from
their mother's arms / / water fills schools
knocks over trains / / turns freighters on their sides

drowns 150 thousand people / dead
dead lee / / it was over before we knew what hit them

dazed. tears of epic proportions / drown ing by wave

& the funeral pyres burn high in to the night / & the bull dozers
push holes in to the ground / bury the dead / bury the dead
the rotten dead

the children had no chance

no chance for the children

& now / people wont eat the fish in sri lanka
they are afraid / the fish have eaten human

repulsed / sickened / hope less
for some / it is hope less / lay down
die

death would be preferable to this pain

& she chews her nail & thinks about it
